SWARMS are In person Science Courses that follow a four year rotation.

SWARM 2A: Anatomy & Physiology (7-12th Grade)

Coming in 2025

There is something elegantly beautiful about human beings that sets them apart from all other created beings.  Every single human being was not only made in the image of God but created on purpose for a purpose.  Not only does each structure within the human body have a purpose and a specific design but all their parts have purpose and design as well.  In this course we will explore these structures and become familiar with how each one of them were created on purpose to maintain homeostasis and the beautiful gift of human life we all have been given by our Creator.  Throughout the course we will delve into both anatomy, the structure of the human body and its parts, and physiology, the functions of the human body and its parts.  This course includes multiple dissections.

SWARM 2B: Anatomy – The In’s and Out’s of You (4-6th Grade)

Coming in 2025

In this class we will begin by learning about homeostasis and the importance of balance in the human body moving on to cover the major systems of the body.  As we study together we will do many labs that give us a hands-on learning experience that allows us to understand how our body works including interactive and interesting lectures as well as labs.  With lessons entitled “Dem Bones,” “What Happened to My Sandwich?,” “Don’t Miss a Beat,” “Just Breathe,” “When You Gotta Go, You Gotta Go,” “What Nerve!,” “Achoo!” And many other creative and fun labs and lectures, your student will be laughing, learning and living Science like they have never done before.  Our desire is to cultivate a love of learning into each student that stays with them for a lifetime.  Students receive grade specific assignments to complete throughout the week to accent their lab time together.

SWARM 3A: Marine Biology (7-12th Grade)

Coming in 2026

7-12th grade Homeschool students will have an amazing opportunity to study the field of Marine Biology. The course will cover many aspects of science including Zoology, Ecology and even a little Physics and Chemistry.  As we study through the unique marine biome, we will explore the differences in the Animal Kingdom through a variety of hands on labs, dissections and activities.

SWARM 3B: Marine Biology (4-6th Grade)

Coming in 2026

4-6th grade Homeschool students will have an amazing opportunity to study the field of Marine Biology at the elementary level.  We will explore all the animal kingdoms focusing our attention on the marine variations.  These animals are specially designed to live in the marine biome so we’ll study a little bit of Geology, Chemistry and Physics to understand how they can live in the ocean.  Your student will learn science hands on as they explore plate tectonics, fossil formation, cephalopod locomotion, echolocation and bioluminescence among many other exciting  labs.

SWARM 4A: S.T.E.M.

Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (7-12th Grade)
Coming in 2027

Class Description:
The main goal of this course is for students to use the knowledge gained in the course to solve real world problems. This course will cover the basic methods of science and may touch on the subject areas of basic chemistry and physics, electrical science, mechanical and structural engineering, microgravity and space. Students will gain experience in research techniques, using the scientific and engineering methods, keeping a scientific logbook, working on a team, brainstorming ideas and developing prototypes, as well as written and oral presentation techniques. This course does not use a textbook, but rather relies heavily on research assignments and student projects as they learn to use science to accomplish a specific goal or to solve a problem.

SWARM 1A: Applied Microbiology (7-12th Grade)

Coming in 2028

In this course we will study the amazing microscopic world around and in us.  We will focus our attention on learning what makes up a cell and observe many living organisms through the microscope.  We will learn how to make our own wet mounts, grow our own safe bacteria cultures, and observe the world of fungi. Topics covered will include a little bit of chemistry and nutrition as well as an introduction to microscopy, simple chromatography, cellular and molecular biology, genetics and the study of disease. We will explore careers in microbiology like epidemiology, phlebotomy, research specialists and field operatives

Robotics: (6-12th Grade) Coming This September, 2025

Build a simple robot bug and a smart robot car and learn about robotics as you build.  Topics we’ll cover are basic soldering techniques, motors, line tracking, expansion boards, Battery Safety, Camera modules, servo control, ultrasonic sensors and IR receivers.  After we complete our robot car we’ll send it on missions like object avoidance, line tracking challenges and search and rescue just to name a few.

*Location varies as we work through each topic but will never be farther than 10miles from White Salmon.
