Kristhianto Nathanael Kainama
Math Instructor: The Dalles
About
Hello! I’m Kristhianto Kainama. As a homeschooling father and an educator with over two decades of experience, I deeply understand the joys and unique challenges of guiding your child’s education.
I bring warmth and patience to every lesson, always keeping your child’s unique needs at the heart of the learning experience. I love looking at mathematics through your child’s eyes and building lessons around their individual interests to create genuine engagement. Whether I am working with your student one-on-one, in a small collaborative group, or in a larger classroom setting, my goal is to make them feel supported and capable.
I am highly qualified and enthusiastic about teaching students from grades 7 through 12. With a Bachelor of Science in Computational Mathematics from the University of Indonesia and a Master of Education in Educational Administration from Columbia International University, I can expertly guide your student through a comprehensive math progression—from Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1 to Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus.
To me, math is much more than just numbers and formulas; I deeply believe it is a beautiful language created by God to reveal His glory and the profound order of the universe. I am passionate about bringing this language to life. By thoughtfully integrating dynamic visual software and innovative educational tools, I help students conceptualize complex ideas and build real, lasting confidence in their abilities.
I am thrilled to partner with your family here at The Hive to provide rigorous, engaging instruction that supports your student’s unique learning journey. I look forward to coming alongside you as parents to help your child master their coursework and equip them with the critical thinking skills they need to succeed.

Tiffany Ryan
Instrumental Music Instructor: White Salmon, Hood River
About
Tiffany was saved as a young girl and raised in the church. She now attends church faithfully and plays piano in church. With each music or piano lesson, she prays with students and has a monthly Bible verse to review and memorize.
Tiffany and her family have lived in Hood River now since 2013 with her husband of more than 34 years.
When they first married, they lived in Carson, WA where she began teaching piano lessons in 1991. They moved away and lived in Idaho where she was the Director of Development for Nampa Christian Schools for nearly 7 years. They have three children who were raised both homeschooling and in private Christian schools and now have four grandchildren in Hood River.
Tiffany has her Master’s in Business Administration and Bachelor of Science in Business from Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho. She has taught piano for more than 15 years.
She has played piano for more than 40 years and began playing in church at age 12. In her high school years, she placed first in the state of Montana for piano performance for three years and competed at an international level.
Tiffany enjoys teaching because it is rewarding to see students enjoy and grow to love music. Music is a subject that stays with anyone for a lifetime. She teaches all levels of piano, beginner flute students and also teaches music subjects like music theory, musical annotation, tempo, etc. Learning the interests of each student is a part of teaching that is important in her approach to helping students learn.

Debbie Schlegel
Science Instructor: White Salmon, Carson, Hood River, The Dalles, Trout Lake
About
I have taught science and worldview classes at High School and Middle School levels in California at both Christian and public schools. After moving back to my childhood home of the Gorge I began a homeschool co-op where I taught many science courses, art and writing classes for ten years. My husband and I recently retired from youth ministry to high school and junior high students at our local church where we served for many years. However, we love working with youth and you’ll find us volunteering to do so throughout the Gorge. I currently teach Science courses for homeschool and on campus students at Horizon Christian School and my husband teaches aviation lessons at the local Civil Air Patrol Squadron in Hood River.
I believe strongly that science is learned by doing not by just reading and answering questions about it. For this reason, I teach science with as much hands on activities and labs as possible. For each of my courses I compile a weekly curriculum to enhance the learning process for my homeschool students. Each week’s lab relates to that week’s studies done at home.
I believe science is a window that allows us to understand our Creator God and His ways. When I teach I desire to help guide the students to learn to see the hand of our great God through His creation as we study it.

About
I absolutely love teaching! My husband, Tim, and I have two children who are now young adults, so my homeschooling days are over, and yet God has blessed me with students in His Bee Hive to continue my love of teaching . In addition to teaching my children, I taught history classes at a local Co-op for 6 years. I currently teach writing through IEW, a variety of history/geography based classes, and I tutor students in math, writing, and history and am willing and eager to tutor all subjects with the exception of science, which I leave to our wonderful Mrs. Schlegel. I believe homeschooling is the best way to provide a rich education for our children. I love the Lord Jesus and incorporate God’s Word in all my teaching. I especially love teaching young homeschoolers as they have such creative and inquisitive minds, which lead to intriguing and funny conversations!

Why I enjoy teaching math:
As a math teacher, I get a lot of satisfaction from assisting my students in appreciating the elegance and logic of numbers. When they eventually understand a concept that initially appeared difficult, I adore seeing their faces brighten. I enjoy coming up with clever explanations for difficult ideas so that my students can grasp them since, to me, teaching mathematics is like solving a riddle. It’s a subject that also calls for a lot of practice, and I take satisfaction in assisting my students in building a solid work ethic and problem-solving abilities that they can use outside of the classroom.
