Come and learn about how (and why) the pioneers travelled to our beautiful Pacific Northwest!  We will learn how Lewis and Clark opened up the West for us, and then begin the process of getting ready to make the long journey.  Students will learn (and calculate) how much money they need to buy supplies for the trip, how long it would take to save up for the trip, choose what they want to bring and calculate the cost.  We will then see if their choices in supplies can be carried in their covered wagon and make any necessary changes.  We will build covered wagons and log cabins!  We will cook several pioneer recipes together and sample pioneer cuisine!  We will also read true stories of pioneer experiences.  Then after Christmas break, we will move on to Indian Culture.  We will study several tribes, learn about where they lived, what kind of homes they lived in, learn about Indian names, make teepees, play games, and cook some recipes as well.  God-willing, we will try to fit in a field trip or two as well.  😊  No homework assignments will be given, all the learning will happen together!

Parents do not need to purchase any materials for their students.
